MORA Office for Apple silicon Macs, sheet backgrounds and a Start screen built for large displays
MORA Office 26.10.5 ships on the same day for Windows and macOS. The release for Apple silicon Macs brings every improvement from 26.10.1 through 26.10.5, with first-launch instructions right on the download page. On both platforms, MORA Sheet adds sheet background images and rulers in Page Layout view, and the interface is further refined in the header and footer gallery, the Start screen (optimized for 1280- and 1920-pixel displays), menus, the document tab strip and icons.
New features 3
SheetSheet background images
The large Page Layout › Page Setup › Background button sets an image as the background of the active sheet; the image is tiled from cell A1 and sits behind the cells. Cells with a fill color cover the background, and in dark document mode the image is softened so text stays readable. Once a sheet has a background, the button changes to Delete Background. The action can be undone in one step, and copying a sheet keeps its background.
SheetOn-screen only backgrounds, read and saved with .xlsx
Sheet backgrounds appear only while you work on screen; they are not printed or exported to PDF, matching what spreadsheet users expect. Backgrounds in .xlsx and .xls files are recognized as sheet backgrounds when opened and written back when saved, and the open .ods format can store them too.
SheetRulers in Page Layout view
The View › Show › Ruler checkbox turns on a horizontal ruler at the top and a vertical ruler to the left of the row headers in Page Layout view, measured in centimeters from the edge of the paper. This lets you set margins and position tables and headers precisely before printing.
Improvements 6
DocHeader and Footer gallery previews only the relevant area
Each template in the Insert › Header & Footer › Header / Footer menus now shows just the header (or footer) strip of the page, making styles quicker to compare; redundant section headings have been removed. The page number gallery still shows full-page previews.
GeneralStart screen optimized for 1280- and 1920-pixel displays
The New tiles, section headings, margins and file/template cards on the Start screen now scale with the window width. On 1920-pixel-wide screens, the New tiles are larger with bigger icons and text; recent file and template cards are wider, laid out in 4 columns at 1280 and 6 columns at 1920, spanning evenly from the left margin to the right. The glow effect on the banner no longer spills outside its card.
GeneralClearer menus
Menu items now have aligned icons, right-aligned keyboard shortcuts, slim submenu arrows and separators that match the menu border color, making commands easier to scan.
GeneralRedesigned document tab strip
Document tabs have more padding and rounded top corners; the active document name is shown in medium weight and shortened with “…” when too long, and the close and “+” buttons are now circular. Names are truncated at proper character boundaries, so Vietnamese diacritics and emoji are never split apart.
GeneralNew ribbon icons for Sheet, Slide and the ink pen
MORA Sheet: new icons for hierarchy, map, statistical and combo charts, column sparklines, Page Break and Page Layout views, Margins and Orientation, plus icons in front of the Width/Height/Scale labels in the Scale to Fit group. MORA Slide: a Design Ideas icon and new illustrations in the animation gallery. The ink pen gets its own nib icon. The Arrange button keeps its own icon instead of changing to match the last command used.
SheetShorter ribbon labels
Several labels on the View tab have been shortened (Headings, Switch, Sync) so the MORA Sheet ribbon shows every group on 1280-pixel-wide screens, even with the new Background and Ruler buttons.
Fixes 1
SheetSheet backgrounds stay stable through every operation
Very small background images tile smoothly without slowing down scrolling; backgrounds are kept when you undo a sheet deletion or move or copy a sheet to another document; and right-to-left sheets tile the image from the right edge and mirror the vertical ruler accordingly.
Security 1
SheetSafety limits for background images in files
Safety has been strengthened when opening spreadsheets with background images: oversized images in .ods, .xlsx and .xls files are rejected, and images are decoded only when they need to be displayed, so unfamiliar files cannot hang the app or consume excessive memory.
