MoraKey 1.4.2–1.4.10: Ctrl+Shift toggle, instant vnđ, and fixes driven by user feedback
On September 24 MoraKey shipped nine updates, from 1.4.2 to 1.4.10, most of them addressing user feedback directly. The Vietnamese on/off shortcut moves to Ctrl+Shift, typing vndd now produces vnđ immediately, common abbreviations such as đc, đt and đk come out right, and punctuation and joined words no longer garble text. MoraKey now checks for updates every hour and flags pending updates with a colored dot on the tray icon.
New features 2
MoraKeyShortcuts for more ministries
New shortcut keys btp, btc and bct for the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Industry and Trade, plus the everyday abbreviations ko and dc (1.4.9).
MoraKeyUpdate reminder dot on the tray icon
When a new version has been downloaded, the tray icon shows an amber dot until you update, and its tooltip explains that you can right-click to update. New-version notifications appear only when someone is actively using the computer (1.4.3).
Improvements 9
MoraKeyCtrl+Shift is the default Vietnamese toggle
Starting with 1.4.5, F3 is handed back to Find Next in web browsers, Notepad and File Explorer. The default toggle is now Ctrl+Shift, or a left-click on the tray icon; computers that were using F3 switch over automatically.
MoraKeyvndd becomes vnđ as you type
Typing vndd produces vnđ and VNDD produces VNĐ (the abbreviation for Vietnamese dong), with the đ appearing the moment you type the second d, including amounts like 1.500.000đ and 100đ/kg (1.4.5, 1.4.10).
MoraKeyđc, đt and đk come out right
Typing ddc, ddt and ddk now produces the familiar abbreviations đc, đt and đk; in English sentences or when typing in ALL CAPS the keys are left as typed (1.4.7).
MoraKeyPunctuation after a word keeps its tone mark
Typing a colon or period right after a word, as in là: or đóng., no longer strips the word’s tone mark (1.4.9).
MoraKeyWords joined by / or - and file names stay intact
Strings joined by slashes or hyphens and office file names are now evaluated piece by piece: code such as max-width and res.send is left untouched, and mora no longer turns into mỏa (1.4.9).
MoraKeyShortcuts follow your tone mark style
Expanded shortcuts place tone marks according to the traditional or modern placement style you’ve chosen (1.4.9).
MoraKeyALL CAPS headings at the start of a line come out right
Uppercase headings at the start of a line, such as SƠ ĐỒ, HỒ SƠ and CƠ QUAN, now produce correct Vietnamese (1.4.10).
MoraKeyClearer labels
The option is renamed Modern tone mark placement (Đặt dấu thanh kiểu mới), and the switch names in the tray menu now match the control panel (1.4.7).
MoraKeyHourly update checks
Starting with 1.4.4, MoraKey checks for new versions every hour, so fixes reach users the same day.
Fixes 4
MoraKeyReliable Ctrl+Shift toggling
Fixed the Ctrl+Shift shortcut sometimes failing to switch modes or switching twice (1.4.2). Computers running 1.4.1 received a mandatory update to the fixed version.
MoraKeyA round of fixes from early feedback
Fixed tone mark position with modern placement enabled (hoỉ → hỏi), raw keys appearing in accented words starting with gi, standalone â and đ reverting to raw keys, the space bar in design software, the Add open app button, and stray characters when importing shortcuts from an Excel file (1.4.4).
MoraKeyVietnamese typing in the Expansion field
The Expansion (Bản khai triển) field on the Shortcuts tab now accepts Vietnamese typing, and the tray icon reappears automatically after an update (1.4.8).
MoraKeyThe letter z is no longer dropped from English words
Typing z in English words such as abcxyz now keeps the letter (1.4.10).
Security 1
MoraKeyPassword fields bypass the input processor
Keystrokes in password fields go straight to the app without passing through Vietnamese processing, and MoraKey never inserts control characters into your text (1.4.5, 1.4.6).
